FDR did it in the 30’s, Obama wants to do it in the 21st, sounds like a good idea right? I’m not so sure, does building or repairing roads and bridges mean employing the same disenfranchised people it did 70 years ago? I’ll be honest, I can’t divine the recipiants of these potential opportunities but I’m thinking a program featuring a big time influx of government cash to internal improvements such as roads, bridges, and potholes will just give more work to the same union guys who are already busy building roads, bridges, and filling potholes. If this is the case, it might end up looking less FDRish than it does special interestish…








Couldn’t agree more. My question also becomes what happens to these workers that we as a government have hired once their work is done? Do we let them go and watch as our unemployment climbs once again? Or do we spend another trillion dollars to reemploy them?
Personally, I’d rather have the government send me a check for $100k and we’ll call it a day. Both are short term solutions but $100k looks a lot better in my account.
Ha, excellent idea Russell, I hadn’t thought about it that way:) $100k in my bank account would kick a$$. One of many things I left out of my initial blog was that the one also wants to pump money into health care and energy. This could be worthwhile and if I was a nurse or a WE Energy employee I’d be all for it…
