Three wolves howling at the Moon

Posted by Benjamin On May - 28 - 2009

Who would have thought that when these three wolves howled at the moon their magical powers could actually make this happen! Ironically, this viral internet craze hit the midwest just a few weeks ago prompting one of my more “in the loop” friends to send me the amazon link.  If you haven’t already read the customer reviews do it, you’ll pee your pants laughing!

Supreme Court Nominee Abortionally Fuzzy?

Posted by Benjamin On May - 28 - 2009

Don’t think for a second that Sotomayor doesn’t support abortion.  This is a back end statist strategy for confusing conservatives into thinking she’s alright…

This is why you need a gun

Diane Sawyer isn’t my favorite person in the World partly because she is just plain annoying and has this arrogant air about her, but also because she just doesn’t get it when it comes to a lot of topics. She recently aired a 20/20 episode about how having a gun to defend yourself wouldn’t be a good thing, or something to that effect. Well Ignatius Piazza has some nice input on that. I want to specifically point out a couple news stories he mentions.

This story is frankly rather crazy. But these guys looked pretty serious until the man decides to defend himself.
This story is rather chilling because the poor lady had just been raped and the guy came back a second time. Thankfully this time she was prepared. Note that the police couldn’t have gotten there in time. It only takes a few minutes to be raped and murdered.
Or this story, what would have happened if the student didn’t have a gun in his backpack, and hadn’t chosen to defend his friends and himself? Him and his friends would be dead now which is what the two “invaders” wanted.

Also, keep this in mind. Before World War II started Hitler began disarming the population of Germany, specifically Jews and other people he deemed trouble makers or inferior species. Unable to defend themselves 13 million people were murdered. All because of gun control… This is hardly a isolated incident either, look at Stalin and the 20 million “dissidents” he murdered between 1929 and 1953.

Sexy Mascot…

Posted by Tony On May - 18 - 2009

Isn’t this kind of a oxymoron? I mean think about it, everyone is inudated with scantily clad women on a daily basis, whether it be on TV (Baywatch anyone?), or the advertisments people get in the mail, or the tabloids at the grocery store checkout. So why is there court action against someone who merely has a scantily clad mannequi? Its so irconic that people care more about a bit of plastic than what their own kids are likely wearing…

Improvements for Mass Effect 2

Posted by Benjamin On May - 13 - 2009

For me Xbox 360’s Mass Effect proved to be a game with long distance legs, I’ve got saves going back to December 2007.  So, fast forward to May 2009 and I’m basically on my fourth play through of the game and here are my thoughts for how to make Mass Effect 2 even cooler than its little brother.

1. The Mako – They could’ve done so much more with this land rover.  It is completely boring and lame in its current state.  All you get is machine gun, big gun, and a small booster lift.  Where are the invisibility shields, gun upgrades, suspension adapters, camo paint jobs, different weapon systems, different scan upgrades, so on and so on?  Also, I hate how the turret turns to the direction your facing when you enter the Mako from ground level not to mention the driving scheme which really sucks.  I’d favor the BF:BC style vehicle control any day over the current lameness.

2.  This game jitters all over the place – The frame rate is abysmal in game and even during the rolling end credits. Jaggies and slowdowns are unacceptable.  This actually may be showcasing the Xbox 360’s weaksaucedness.

3.  For God’s sake don’t fear being a 2 disc game – Word is that the Devs were really surprised they fit all the game on one disc.  Good for them, but we know this means they cut corners.  I’d gladly swap a disc in and out if it was the only thing keeping me from all the other good ideas, textures, and upgrades they had to leave out.

Thus ends my vitriolic comments for Mass Effect.  In no way does this mean the game stunk, matter of fact it rocked and the story was freakin awesome!  So do yourself a favor and go buy it cheap from someone!

The Doctors aren't there

Posted by Benjamin On May - 7 - 2009

You could make health care free (which is a misnomer in and of itself) but that doesn’t mean doctors are going to share the same philanthropist views as you feel they should have with their particulare skill set. They just might not sign up for your gig.  They might have better things to do than slave their entire lives under a never ending forever bulging workload that pays a government mandated set amount which dictates how rich you get, or don’t get.  I like how the writer under states the amount of people who would come into the health care system if Obama manages to pass national health care reform.  She pegs the influx of new patients at millions of people, get real, if we currently have 305,682,072 people in the US the actual number of new patients might be closer to 200 million…
